Action Taken Report of OBC CELL

  • Displayed sample scholarship forms on the college notice board with the web-links of various scholarship sites for the OBC students.
  • The OBC students were guided and also conveyed to nominate their names in the capacity building program conducted by the career counseling cell of the college for future job opportunities.
  • More sensitization programs for the OBC students to make them aware of the activities of the OBC cell and also about various scholarships available for them.
  • Academic performance and progress of the OBC students were discussed
  • The convener of the committee reported that no grievance/ complaint was received from the OBC students of the college

ABOUT Other Backward Class (OBC) CELL
An OBC Cell is functioning in the campus to provide special assistance to the students belonging to the Other Backward Classes. The cell encourages the Students of Other Backward Classes (OBC) for higher education by ensuring scholarships and adequate support. The cell offers assistance in their curricular and co-curricular activities. The OBC Cell of the college creates a living and working environment where all employees and students belonging to the community should feel safe and respected. The institution is committed to provide an environment that promotes diversity and respects everyone regardless of colour, religious belief, caste, creed or cultures. In order to ensure due compliance of the orders of reservation issued from time to time in favour of OBC from government and universities. The college takes special interest in facilitating financial support to students from government agencies and other sources. And the cell is always engaged to solve the various problems of OBC students.

OBJECTIVES OF OBC CELL

  • To educate, enlighten and empower the students of Other Backward Classes (OBC) to avail scholarships, adequate support and opportunities for the growth and development.
  • To ensure equal opportunities for education of OBC students.
  • To Counsel and guide OBC students about various issues and help them to manage academic activities.
  • The OBC Cell of the college creates an environment where all employees and students belonging to the community should feel safe and Secure.
  • To bridge a gap between students and the Government Departments to get and prompt distribution of scholarships and other financial assistance.
  • To provide prompt counselling for any emotional emergencies arising on account of occurrences of any event at the campus.
  • To encourage enrolling for career orientation programmes, this would empower and equip them with the necessary skills to choose a career option.

SCOPE MINORITY CELL

  • Academic Matters: Related to equal opportunity and related matters.
  • Financial Matters: Related to Govt. and other scholarships.
  • Other Matters: Related to certain misgivings about conditions of sanitation, ragging, victimization by teachers etc.

.FUNCTIONS MINORITY CELL

  • Ensure GOI and Commission’s decisions and to collect regularly, on an annual basis, information regarding course-wise admissions to candidates belonging to the Students from OBC for different courses, in suitable forms prescribed, by a stipulated date, and to take follow up action, where required
  • Ensure GOI orders and Commission’s decisions and to collect information in respect of appointment, training of these communities in teaching and non-teaching posts in the College, in suitable forms by a stipulated date and take follow up action where required
  • Analyse information on admissions, education, training and employment of Students from OBC, and prepare reports to submit to University Grants Commission, AISHE, etc.
  • Deal with representations received from Students from OBC candidates regarding their admission, recruitment, promotion and other similar matters in our College
  • Function as a Grievances Redressal Cell for the grievances of Students from OBC and employees of the college and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems
  • Maintain a register for employment of OBC teachers and staff for various posts in the college
  • Any other work assigned from time to time to promote higher education among these two communities suffering economic, social and educational deprivations

PROCEDURE OF LODGING COMPLAINT under this cell

  • The students may feel free to put up a grievance in writing/or in the format available in the admin dept. and drop it in boxes.
  • The Cell will act upon those cases which have been forwarded along with the necessary documents.
  • The Cell will assure that the grievance has been properly solved in a stipulated time limit provided by the cell.
